Vijay Devarakonda plays the lead role, of a student leader, while Rashmika Mandanna plays the female lead as a cricketer. Putting down speculations, director Bharat confirmed that it is not a remake of Malayalam movie Comrade in America starring Dulquer Salman as the protagonist.
The official teaser of the film was released on 17 March 2019. However, the kissing scenes inclusive of lip-lock kiss in the teaser were highly criticized on social media.
